PLBC announces new members and caucus positions


HARRISBURG, Jan. 4 –The Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus has new officers and two new members for the 2011-12 legislative session.

State Reps. Margo Davidson, D-Delaware, and Michelle Brownlee, D-Phila., freshmen members of the House of Representatives are the newest additions to the caucus. Brownlee is also PLBC secretary.

Second term state Reps. Vanessa Brown and Kenyatta Johnson, both D-Phila., hold new officer positions with the caucus. Brown is vice chairwoman and Johnson is treasurer.

State Rep. Ronald G. Waters, D-Phila./Delaware, will continue to serve as PLBC chairman in the 2011-12 legislative session, a position he has held since January 2009. Waters is also chairman of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators Region 2, which includes Pennsylvania and New York.

Caucus members said they will continue to fight for the advancement and equality for minorities in the Commonwealth.

In 2010, the PLBC hosted a scholarship banquet and gave away $25,000 in college scholarship money to minority seniors pursuing degrees at Pennsylvania colleges and universities. Members said they will continue to work on programs that will help to promote educational initiatives for minority students.
